At Mackinaw, your safety comes first. We believe dating should feel authentic, respectful, and secure. That’s why we’ve designed Mackinaw with built-in safeguards to help create a healthier, more human way to connect.
Our team works continuously to detect and remove harmful content, respond quickly to reports, and comply with safety standards for minors worldwide. We are committed to ensuring Mackinaw is a platform where people can express themselves freely while feeling protected and respected.
Respect & Authenticity
Be yourself. Your Mackinaw profile is built on candid, in-the-moment videos, not heavily edited or misrepresentative content.
Treat others with kindness. Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.
No impersonation. Don’t use someone else’s likeness, voice, or content.
Privacy & Boundaries
Keep personal information private until you trust your match. Don’t share your home address, workplace, financial details, or other sensitive information.
Respect others’ boundaries. If someone isn’t interested, don’t push.
Conversations and videos are for connection, not surveillance or stalking. Never record or share others’ content without their consent.
Video Content Standards
No nudity, sexual content, or content promoting violence.
Keep videos authentic, but safe for the community.
Don’t use AI-generated or heavily edited content to mislead others.
Videos should reflect your real personality, not promote products, spam, or outside services.
Adult-Only Environment
Minors are not permitted on Mackinaw under any circumstances.
Any account suspected of belonging to a minor will be immediately removed.
We reserve the right to investigate and take action, including account suspension or removal, to keep Mackinaw safe and adult-only.
If you suspect an account of misrepresenting their age, report their account by clicking on the three dots (⋮), selecting “Report user” and fill out the form. Be sure to mention that you suspect this user of being a minor in your report.
Reporting & Enforcement
Every profile and conversation has a “Report” option. Use it if you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines.
Reports are reviewed promptly. Confirmed violations may result in warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans.
If we ever encounter illegal content or activity, especially involving minors, we will take immediate action, which may include account removal and cooperating with law enforcement where required.
Staying Safe Online
Mackinaw was designed to make online dating feel more intentional, but it’s important to remember that real safety extends beyond the app.
Meet in public first: Choose a coffee shop, busy restaurant, or other public space for your first few dates. Avoid private homes or secluded areas until you’ve built trust.
Tell a friend: Let someone close to you know where you’re going, who you’re meeting, and when you expect to return. Share your live location if possible.
Arrange your own transportation: Keep control over how you arrive and leave. Don’t rely on your date for a ride until you feel comfortable.
Stay in control of substances: Be mindful with alcohol or anything else that could impair your judgment. Always watch your drink being made and never leave it unattended.
Trust your instincts: If something feels off, it probably is. You’re never obligated to stay — it’s okay to cut a date short.
